Abstract

Three wave mixing (3WM) experiments exhibiting both vibrational resonances and electronic resonances (CARS) have been performed using tunable 10 ps pulses from a Nd : YAG laser system. This technique has particular advantages for obtaining detailed information about the dynamic events occurring in electronically excited molecules. With this method the fragmentation mechanisms following single or multiphoton excitation of several molecules, including benzene, have been examined.
