Abstract

In the J=1⟵0 spectrum of CHF3, the lines of three of the excited states have a linear Stark effect with coefficients $$\begin{array}{llll}\Delta \nu_{5} &= \pm &0.82 \times 10^{-2} E Mc/s,\\Delta \nu_{1} &= \pm &2.30 \times 10^{-2} E Mc/s,\\Delta \nu_{2} &= \pm &2.16 \times 10^{-2} E Mc/s.\end{array}$$ These three lines have a half width only one third that of the normal lines, but the Stark lobes broaden very rapidly as E is increased. The J=1←0 spectrum of CDF3 is entirely normal. In the J=2←1 spectrum of CHF3 the *. K=0 line is displaced and has four Stark lobes. The CDF3. *, K=0 line is split into three lines spread 160 Mc/s. At least two of these lines are degenerate with a linear Stark Effect. The K=0 lines of a degnerate vibration are species E which cannot be split by any interaction of vibration and rotation''
