Abstract

The infrared spectrum of C6D5GeCl3 in the liquid state and in solution has been measured from 33 to 4000cm−1. The Raman spectrum of the liquid has been recorded and depolarization values measured. Assignment of the thirty-nine fundamental vibrations based on position and depolarization values will be presented. The assignment will be compared to that previously given for the normal compound. Infrared and Raman spectra of phenylgermane will also be presented and discussed.
