ABSORPTION SPECTRUM OF $N_{2}$ IN THE VUV REGION, THE $c\frac{1}{5}$(0) $^{1}\sum_{u}^{+} - X(0) ^{1}\sum_{g}^{+}$ BAND

Abstract

The absorption spectrum of nitrogen has been investigated with a 6.65 m vacuum spectrograph. The rotational analyses of the c1/5(0)−X(0),C4(0)−X(0),b(22)−X(0),b′(18)−X(0) and b(23)−X(0) bands were carried out. Strong interaction between c 1/5(0) and b′(18) levels was observed while relatively weak interactions were also noticed in all levels near by. Details of the rotational analysis of the c 1/5(0) - X(0) band and the perturbation will be discussed. Supported in part under Grant AFOSR 60-0018 to Harvard College.
