Abstract
The infrared spectra of $CH_{3}AsH_{2}, CD_{3}AsH_{2}, CH_{3}AsD_{2}$, and $CD_{3}AsD_{2}$ have been investigated from $15 cm^{-1}$ to $4000 cm^{-1}$. Vibrational assignments have been made on the basis of spectra taken in both the gas and solid phases. The spectra of these compounds can be classified according to the limiting symmetric-top case, since many of the bands show clear-cut $\|$ and $\bot$ type bands. However, many of the sub-bands within the $\bot$ bands show complications due to accidental degeneracies and overlapping fundamentals which would be degenerate in the case of $CH_{3}I$ but split slightly in methyl arsine causing strong Coriolis coupling. Using this assignment a force field calculation has been carried out.
