Abstract

We have produced chemically activated N,N-difluoromethylamine by flash photolysis of a mixture of $N_{2} F_{4}$ and $CH_{3}I$. Reaction of the photolytically produced $CH_{3}$ with $N_{2} F_{4}$ leads to production of N,N-difluoromethylamine. Elimination of HF from the vibrationally excited N,N-difluoromethylamine leads to laser emission in several P-branch vibration-rotation transitions of HF. Details of the reaction and the energy distribution in the HF molecules will be discussed.
