Knowledge Bank

Using a pulsed ruby laser source and electronic data accumulation, the lattice mode, inclastic harmonic light scattering spectrum of $NH2Cl$ has been measured, both at room temperature and below its phase transition temperature of $-30\circ C$. The libration band, both Raman and IR forbidden, is active in this spectrum, and is observed at $375cm-1$. In addition, the LO band is seen, at $280cm-1$. In the low temperature, ordered phase, a strong broad band centered at $100cm-1$ is found, but not identified.
