Abstract
The operation of a new time-resolved Fourier transform spectrometer that is capable of $0.25 cm^{-1}$ spectral resolution and better than $10^{-7}$ s temporal resolution will be described. Time resolution is achieved by coupling a step-scan interferometer to a transient digitizer/pulsed-laser $system.^{1}$ Application of the spectrometer to time-resolved dispersed fluorescence studies of transient species will be discussed, and a comparison will be made between this technique and conventional methods for recording dispersed emission spectra, such as using a grating spectrometer or stimulated emission pumping spectroscopy.
