Abstract

As part of a continuing series of studies of polycyclic hydrocarbons, we have investigated the microwave spectrum of bicyclo[3.1.0.]hex-2-ene. By analyzing, the spectra of the normal and 13C isotopic species, sufficient data have been obtained to specify the heavy atom molecular conformation. For the normal isotopic species the rotational constants have the values A=6306.12±0.01,B=4516.67±0.01, and C=3208.82±0.01MHz. Dipole moment measurements have also been performed and these lead to the values |μa|=0.166,|μb|=0.209, and |μc|=0.119 Debye. The structural results of this study will be described in detail, and will be compared to those for related molecules.
