The high resolution absorption and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra of uranocene have been measured in the temperature range 4.5 to $20\circ K$. The temperature dependence of the MCD shows non-linear 1/kT dependence characteristic of a nearly degenerate ground state manifold. Several of the prominent features of the spectrum are assigned to ($B1g$, $B2g$)$\to$ $E3u$ and ($B1g$, $B2g$) $\to$ $B1u$ or $B2u$ excited states.
