We have undertaken a series of vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) measurements on sugars and nucleic acids employing a FTIR spectrometer. A correlation relating the sequential arrangement of hydroxyl groups to the sign of a VCD band near $1100cm1$ is noticed from these studies. Also the VCD of 6-deoxy galactose in $1600-1300cm-1$ region has revealed a correlation relating the orientation of the methyl group at $C6$ with respect to that of methine group at $C1$. These new results and their useful implications will be discussed.
