Abstract

Time-resolved techniques are applied to examine the resonance Raman spectra, structures, and kinetic behavior of transient intermediates in a number of radiation- and photo-chemical reactions. The following systems will be discussed: (1) Dihalide radical anions $(Cl^{-}_{2}, Br^{-}_{2}, I^{-}_{2})$ in aqueous solution. Bond dissociation energies (1.6, 1.3, 0.9 eV respectively) have been evaluated. (2) Transient species in the pulse radiolytic reactions of aqueous aniline. The Raman spectra of anilino, aniline radical cation and benzidine radical cation have been observed. (3) Photoexcited triplet ($T_{1}$) states of N-heterocyclic molecules and their reactions.
