Abstract

An early (1843) business letter from merchant John R. Prat of Zanesville to his son-in-law, Samuel W. Goff, of Roseville and later Ironton, Ohio, is transcribed. Although it deals with the prices of wheat and clover, Goff was subsequently a stoneware potter in Marietta and Ironton, Ohio. An example of his stoneware impressed "S. W. Goff/Ironton, O." is illustrated.
