Abstract
For my Second-year Transformation Experience Program signature project I chose to get participate in an internship with the nonprofit social work agency, Alvis. During the Summer of 2019, staring at the end of May and potentially continuing throughout my undergraduate career, I will be an intern for Alvis in one of their human trafficking victim home, where I will be shadowing employees to see how to help victims through trauma, as well as, do typical intern duties like filing and coffee runs.
“We strive to seek out and engage dedicated individuals committed to making a difference in the lives of others. Keeping our promise to provide our clients with quality service and continuing our tradition of excellence” – Alvis
As an intern I will be working two to three days out of the work week. My roles to begin with will be simple tasks like filing and phone calls. However eventually I will have the opportunity to interact with the victims who live there in order to help them through their trauma. This experience will give me a more in-depth understanding of how to help those with trauma; which will prove to be useful in my future studies and career.
