Abstract

A computer-controlled Hewlett-Packard microwave spectrometer has been used to record the lineshapes of OCS and CH3OH transitions at several pressures in the microwave region. The widths of the J=1→2 transitions in 18OCS, O13CS, OC34S, OCS (v2=2), and OCS (v3=1) have been compared to the width of the ground state transition of the parent under identical conditions. The widths of the M components of the J=3→2,K=1→0, E level transition to CH3OH have been measured in a parallel plate absorption cell. The linewidth of the J=4→3,K=0→1, E level transition in CH3OH has been determined both in absorption and dispersion.
