Abstract

The dependence of the total absorptance of the bands of carbon monoxide near $4.7 \mu$ and $2.3 \mu$, and of methane near $3.3 \mu$, on absorber concentration, pressure, and temperature was measured. Data were taken for absorber pressures between 100 and 1000 mm Hg, and at temperatures up to $400^{\circ}C$, for a fixed absorber path length of 30.6 cm. The nature and possible reasons for the observed temperature dependence of the total absorptance are discussed.
