Abstract

The microwave spectra of three indium (I) halides have been investigated at high resolution using a microwave Fourier transform (MWFT) cavity spectrometer. InF, InCl, and InBr were produced by laser ablation of an indium rod in the presence of gas mixtures containing SF6,Cl2, and Br2, respectively. The spectra have been analyzed in order to refine known values for the nuclear quadrupole coupling constants, as well as to obtain previously undetermined nuclear spin-rotation coupling constants. In particular, 19F spin-rotation splitting has been observed in the J=1−0 rotational transition of 115In19F.
