Abstract

The complete infrared and Raman spectra of polycrystalline oxamic acid ($H_{2}NCO-CO_{2}H$) and sodium oxamate have been recorded. Possible hydrogen bond structures as well as conformations of the monomeric molecules will be discussed. Vibrational assignments for the observed spectra are proposed from the data and from comparison of the spectra with those of several other oxalic acid derivatives.
