Abstract

An atlas of the spectrum of methanol [Microwave, Infared and Laser Transitions of Methanol:Atlas of Assigned Lines from 0 to $1258 cm^{-1}$, G. Moruzzi, B.P. Winnewisser, M. Winnewisser, I. Mukhopadhyay and F. Strumia, CRC Press, 1995] has been prepared for publication. The atlas includes a listing of 37 000 transitions and a plot of the absorption spectrum from 20 to $1258 cm^{-1}$. The plotted spectrum segments come from measurements made at various values of pressure, path length and resolution, so that the transmittance values are not comparable. A procedure was set up to derive line intensity parameters S for each line. A balance was sought between accuracy of intensity values and effort involved, considering the extensive overlaps in the spectrum and pressure broadening variations as well as the number of transitions.
