Abstract

The rotational spectrum of N2O-HF has been observed by molecular beam electric resonance spectroscopy. The spectrum of the principle isotopic species implies that the molecule is an asymmetric top in which the N2O axis makes an angle of ∼47 with a line drawn between the centers of mass of the two sub-molecules. Spectra of the isotopic species 15N2OHF and 14N2OOF establish that the HF is hydrogen bonded toward the oxygen end of the N2O. [FIGURE].
