Abstract

The red system of ScO has been rotationally analysed and found to be a $^{2}\Pi_{r}-^{2}\Sigma$ transition showing nuclear hyperfine splitting of the ground state. Two heterogeneous perturbations were found in the 0,0 group of bands and the origin of these has been explained on the basis of the presence of a $^{2}\Delta$ term. The usual constants have been obtained from the analysis and agree, for the most part, with those obtained previously by $Akerlind.^{1}$
