Abstract
Spectra of the infrared fundamental vibration band and five of the visible and near infrared electronic bands of oxygen have been obtained at temperatures of 90-115 K with absorption paths of 16 to 140 m. The temperature variations of the shape, width and integrated absorption coefficient of each band were studied. All of the bands exhibit the characteristics of collision-induced absorption, and the shape and intensity of the vibrational band can be fairly well understood in terms of the theory. In contrast, the absorption profiles of the electronic bands are much less amenable to analysis.
