Knowledge Bank

We have obtained photoacoustic spectra of several small polyatomic hydrides in the region $14,000-18,500cm-1$. Among those to be discussed are $HN3$, HNCO, and the deuterated methanes. The v=5 and v=6 C-H stretching overtones of $HN3$ give discrete, Doppler-limited spectra, even though these states are fairly close to the dissociation limit.
