Abstract

A microwave absorption cell of simple design for work up to a temperature of $1000^{\circ} C$ is described. A novel method is employed for supporting the Stark septum avoiding the use of insulators inside the waveguide. The system has been used for the determination of the dipole moments of several sulphides and selenides of lead, tin and silicon from Stark effect measurements.
