Abstract

Racant improvements in sensitivity have permitted us to extend $previous^{(1,2)}$ infrared studies of ArHF to encompass all of the low-frequency $(\leq 75 cm^{-1})$ bending and stretching vibrations of the excited HF(v-l) potential surface. Accurate vibrational term values, and rotational and centrifugal distortion constants are now known for the ground state $(10^{\circ})$, and the van der Waals stretch $(00^{0})$. the HF stretch $(10^{\circ}1)$, and combinations of the HF stretch with the van der waals stretch $(10^{\circ}1)$. the $\Sigma$ bend $(12^{\circ}0)$, the $\Pi$ bend $(11^{1}0)$. and the van der Waals stretch overtone $(10^{\circ}2)$. listed in order of increasing energy.
