Abstract

This research is essentially about molecules with a small moment of inertia for which rotational fluctuations are important. For negligible vibrational contribution to the band shape it is sufficient to analyze only the infrared data, whereas for larger contribution one needs to consider also the Raman data. The observed effects in the spectra lead to a theoretical interpretation in terms of a true rotational diffusion in some cases and of large angle of rotation in others. The spectra and correlation functions of the molecules ${N_{2}}O, {C_{2}}{H_{2}}, {C_{2}}{D_{2}}, C{H_{4}}$, and $CH_{3}CH$ will be discussed.
