Abstract
Extensive diode laser and Fourier transform spectra of ethane have been recorded in the $\nu_{9}$ region. The torsional ground state hot band, $\nu_{9}+\nu_{4}-\nu_{4}$, has been assigned for the first time. The parameters $B_{4}, D^{J}_{4}$, and $D^{JK}_{4}$, have been determined from ground state combination differences. The analysis of $\nu_{9}+\nu_{4}-\nu_{4}$ includes the torsion-Coriolis interaction with $4 \nu_{4}$. A partial analysis of the second $\nu_{9}$ torsional hot band, $\nu_{9}+2\nu_{4}-2\nu_{4}$, will also be presented.
