Knowledge Bank

In the long wavelength A - A absorption spectrum of HNO some of the lines in the (101)-(000) transition are known to be broadened due to predissociation of the upper state. Since the original $spectra1$ suggested that the line widths are roughly proportional to $K\prime$ it was decided to re-photograph the band at higher resolution in order to explain this apparently anomolous result. The dependence on $J\prime$ will be discussed.
