Abstract

The ν2(11←0+) infrared absorption band of H3O+ has been observed by high resolution infrared diode laser spectroscopy. The spectra observed over the 830 to 1030cm−1 region yield molecular constants which are in good agreement with purely theoretical predictions. Recent work on oxygen-18 isotopic substitution and on other spectral features will be reported.
