Abstract

Description

Spectra of the 4.5μN2O band were obtained after the radiation passed through two cells containing mixtures of N2O and N2. With the total pressure and absorber concentration of one cell adjusted so that the absorption by it alone lay essentially in the square root region where the absorption is approximately proportional to the square root of the total pressure and absorber concentration, the spectra were obtained as the total pressure and N2O concentration in the second cell were varied over a wide range. The total integrated absorption of both cells was found to be expressed in a form similar to that obtained by Gryvnak and Shaw1 for the absorption near 1.7μ by two gas samples of CO.
