Abstract
A new infrared multicomponent analyzer which automatically provides data for tencomponent analyses will be described. The instrument consists of a modified Perkin-Elmer Model 12, single-beam spectrometer to which has been added a control unit, which sequences through ten predetermined analytical wavelengths. At each point, first Io then I is automatically obtained by a cell-in, cell-out procedure. An analog-to-digital converter provides data for any of a variety of read-out systems, such as an electric typewriter, counter, or cardpunch device. Analytical results indicate a standard deviation of less than $\pm .001$ absorbency units in the 60% to 35% transmission range and $\pm .002$ units in the 35% to 15% range. Quantitative results on typical 10-component analyses will be presented.
