Abstract

The infrared fundamental band $(\upsilon = 1\leftarrow 0)$ of the SH radical $(X^{2}\Pi)$ has been observed in absorption by using a tunable difference frequency laser. The second overtone band $(\upsilon = 3\leftarrow 0)$ of the SO radical $(X^{3}\Sigma^{-})$ has also been observed. These results illustrate the utility of the difference frequency laser technique for the detection of weak overtone bands in addition to the fundamental transitions of free radicals. Molecular constants for SH and SO will be presented.
