Abstract

Line radiancy R (erg/$cm^{2}$ sec) in the 1--0 and 2--1 vibration-rotation bands of the OH radical have been obtained using a high resolution infrared `Grille-Spectrometer’, a blackbody and an oxyacetylene flame in thermal equilibrium. From temperature measurements and calculated values of OH partial pressures in different regions of the flame the optical path has been derived. Integrated absorption $S^{v^{\prime}\rightarrow v^{\prime}}_{j^{\prime}\rightarrow j^{\prime}}$ ($cm^{-1}$ $atm^{-1}$) and oscillator strengths have been deduced for the four components (lambda and spin doubling) of the P branch lines $J= 11$ through $J = 17$ in the 1--0 transition, and $J = 9$ through $J = 16$ in the 2--1 transition.
