Abstract

The desire to characterize the vapor transport growth of single crystalline germanium using Raman techniques has required that we study the Raman spectroscopy of germanium diiodide. Two bands separated by $230 cm^{-1}$ and $360 cm^{-1}$ from the excitation wavelength have been observed. This paper discusses the vapor transport experiment as well as the Raman spectroscopy of the vapor phase germanium diiodide.
