Abstract

The spectrum of ArCO2 from 500 Hz to 19 GHz has been measured using molecular beam electric resonance techniques. Observed transitions include rotational levels to J = 10 tot several values of K. Preliminary analysis of the data indicates that the molecule is a T-shaped, nearly prolate top (κ=0.941) with an Ar-C bond length slightly under 3.5 {\AA} and a dipole moment of 0.068 Debye The results of more detailed structural and dipole moment determinations will be presented. Effects of non-rigidity will be discussed and comparisons made with other weakly bound complexes.
