Abstract

A multiple-reflection Raman tube with four concave mirrors, similar to that described by Welsh et $al^{1}$ but with certain improvements, has been built for the study of the Raman effect in gases. The vibrational Raman spectra of several compounds, including $C_{2}F_{6}$, $CF_{3}CN$, $CF_{2}Cl-CF_{2}H$, $CF2=CF-CF=CF_{2}$, and $(CH_{3})_{2}O$, have been observed. Details of construction will be described, and sample spectra will be shown to indicate performance.
