Abstract

A multiple-reflection Raman tube with four concave mirrors, similar to that described by Welsh et al1 but with certain improvements, has been built for the study of the Raman effect in gases. The vibrational Raman spectra of several compounds, including C2F6, CF3CN, CF2ClCF2H, CF2=CFCF=CF2, and (CH3)2O, have been observed. Details of construction will be described, and sample spectra will be shown to indicate performance.
