Abstract

Quantum and classical theories indicate that fluorescence polarization from electronically excited molecules is greatly reduced if rotation participates in intramolecular vibrational redistribution. This small polarization results when K is not an approximately good quantum number. We compare the results of model calculations to experiments on p-difluoro-benzene.
