Abstract

The electronic absorption spectrum of thioformaldehyde, $H_{2}CS$ $D_{2}CS$, has been recorded from 2200 to 1800 {\AA}. Four electronic transitions have been identified in the spectrum and have been assigned to the $\pi\rightarrow\pi^{*} n\rightarrow 4s, n\rightarrow 4p_{y}$ and $n\rightarrow 4p_{z}$ electron promotions. Both the $\pi\rightarrow\pi^{*}$ and the $ n\rightarrow 4s$ transitions exhibit discrete vibrational and rotational structure. An analysis of the high resolution spectra of these two lower systems will be discussed.
