Abstract

Several new bands have been observed in the region 280 - 225 nm in a Hollow Cathode discharge tube using $TeO_{2}$ and a trace of water vapor. These have teen assigned to an electronic transition $B^{\prime} {^{2}}\Sigma^{+} - X^{2}\Pi_{i}$ in the diatomic species TeH. The observed bands fit very nicely into the Deslandres Scheme for a Diatomic Molecule and the derived molecular constants reproduce the measured frequencies well within $\pm 2 cm^{-1}$, the estimated precision in the measurement. The open structure of the bands and relatively higher values of the Ground State vibrational frequency $\omega_{e} = 2661.1 cm^{-1}$ and anharmonicity constant $\omega_{e}x_{e} = 36.8 cm^{-1}$ strongly suggest that the emitterr of the observed band system is TeH. The vibrational constants derived from the analysis are as follows: [FIGURE]
