Abstract
Though the benzene radical anion has been the subject of ESR studies, there has been no information on the vibrational spectrum of this theoretically important species. In this work, the preparation of the radical anion was approached by deposition of thins films of potassium in benzene at 90 K. The exposure of the original deep blue codeposits to the beam of an argon ion laser produced a marked bleaching.
