Abstract
The B-H stretching fundamental ($\nu_{1}$) of the linear molecule HBS has been observed at $2735.80 cm^{-1}$ for $H^{11}B^{32}S, 2751.43$ $cm^{-1}$ for $H^{10}B^{32}S$, and $2735.68 cm^{-1}$ for $H^{11}B^{34}S$. The strongest ``hot” band transitions have also been measured for the two boron isotopes. Combining the data on $\nu_{1}$ for the three isotopes with the microwave $measurements^{1}$ of the $\ell$-doubling and centrifugal distortion constants it has been possible to determine the valence force constants for this molecule. From this force field the remaining two fundamental vibrations can be estimated for all isotopic species.
