Abstract

The 2 μ band of ammonia has been recorded with a resolution of 0.06 cm−1. Most of the strong lines belonging to the perpendicular band ν3+ν4 have been identified. The analysis suggests strong Local Interactions with neighboring bands. The results have been utilized to interpret a 0.5 cm−1 resolution spectrum of Jupiter.1 An effective rotational temperature has been derived for the Jovian atmosphere.
