Abstract

Pam and Greg VanHorn both began attending The Ohio State University in the early 1970s, although they met while counselors at a summer camp. They married while still working toward their undergraduate degrees in Education, so they were able to sit next to each other in the same Commencement ceremony since they now shared a last name. Both returned to OSU to obtain their Master’s degrees in the 1980s, although they completed their degrees at different times because of the demands of full-time jobs and raising children. In 2012, they returned again to obtain their doctoral degrees in Education and went through the program together, although Greg obtained his degree a year behind Pam. Both talk about their experiences at each stage of education, and what it was like to attend OSU at different times in their lives.
