Abstract

The high resolution infrared absorption spectra of $Cl_{3}B_{3}N_{3}H_{3}$ was run across the range $4000-230 cm^{-1}$ for gaseous, solid, and liquid solution samples; Raman spectra were obtained for the solutions. The previous contradictory assignments are discussed and a new one is proposed. Complementing the data with the known infrared active frequencies of $Cl_{3}B_{3}N_{3}D_{3}$, a normal coordinate treatment has been made. The force constants and potential energy distributions are compared with those obtained in our previous work on borazine, and a discussion is made of the chlorine substitution effect on the electronic structure of the ring.
