Abstract

The high resolution infrared absorption spectra of Cl3B3N3H3 was run across the range 4000−230cm−1 for gaseous, solid, and liquid solution samples; Raman spectra were obtained for the solutions. The previous contradictory assignments are discussed and a new one is proposed. Complementing the data with the known infrared active frequencies of Cl3B3N3D3, a normal coordinate treatment has been made. The force constants and potential energy distributions are compared with those obtained in our previous work on borazine, and a discussion is made of the chlorine substitution effect on the electronic structure of the ring.
