Abstract

We have observed VCD in the base carbonyl stretching region (1550−1750cm−1) of model oligo-nucleotides in buffered aqueous solution. Our experimental results agree well with those reported by Keiderling [1]. We have initiated a detailed study of the VCD as a function of the nucleotide chain length, salt concentration and temperature. Methods to reproduce the observed VCD data via an extended Coupled Oscillator will be presented.
