Abstract
The efficiency of prediction of mean gravity anomalies for areas of 1° x 1°, 2° x 2°, 5° x 5°, and 10° x 10° from known mean anomalies is studied. The least standard prediction error is found to be about 1/2 (var)s 1/2 where vars is the variance of mean anomalies. The influence of the nearest neighbors is prevailing. The prediction from many known anomalies is about the same as from only a few known values. [Some mathematical expressions are not fully represented in the metadata.
