Abstract

The Raman spectra of rhombic sulfur dissolved in several amines have been investigated. All of the solutions have similar spectra. Five new bands are observed at 400, 440, 462, 505 and 538cm−1. Some of these bands have been identified as those due to polysulfide ions. Changes in the spectra with time have been observed and will be discussed.
