A scene on the grounds of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, based on the idealized 1983 portrait sculpture by Gary Ross of former Governor James A. Rhodes. Two small birds perch atop the statue's anonymous head and raised arm. The text around the base reads "Vanitas," "Forgettable Monuments," and "Nihil Nisi Ex Arca" - or nothing but cash. Cows graze on the Statehouse lawn below, next to a Civil War cannon and bustling street. The Columbus Dispatch newspaper building in the background is topped by a billboard that reads "Diss Patzc Noose." An alternate Monumental Ephemera [CMA 2013.015.063] also exists.
