Brown painted and lacquered wooden shoe presented to John Glenn by H.C. van de Hulst, Chairman of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) at its meeting in Washington, DC on May 3, 1962 (matching shoe of the pair presented to Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Titov at the meeting).
