Methino-phosphide has been produced by passing $PH3$ through a carbon arc. This procedure yields a mixture composed mostly of HCP and acetylene, although diacetylene has also been identified in the mixture. All attempts to fractionate the mixture have failed. Therefore the spectrum of HCP is overlapped by that of acetylene. Spectroscopic constants for $\nu 2$ will be reported; constants for other bands may also be reported if the analysis is completed before the meeting.
